We met with the builder to talk over things while we wait for action to start. He is very affable, and I truly hope the relationship continues as comfortable as it has been.
He felt the June 1 closing date was still realistic, probably. Much will depend on weather. Once the brutally cold weather breaks, they will get going on the framing. This is on track to be the coldest February on record for this area. Windy, too...
We made a minor change to the basement, removing a lally column, adding a massive wood beam to span the space under the kitchen/dining room.
He informed us that when they laid out the forms for the basement, they had room to make our house 1 foot wider than specified. The first two houses had the extra width, but we were told they were the only ones that could have that because of required separation between buildings.
Who knows? Maybe everything shrunk with the cold? Anyway, it is a small difference, but we'll take it.
